Giorgi Menabde
Honorary President
Giorgi Menabde graduate the Tbilisi State Medical University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1980. In 1986 he defended a thesis having a topic: “Application of lasers in Dentistry” and was awarded with a scientific degree of a Candidate of Medical Sciences. In 1987-1992 he was studying in the Moscow Stomatological Scientific-Researching Institute where, in 1992, he defended the Doctoral Thesis “Application of expanders in the reconstructive surgery of head and neck” and was awarded with a scientific degree of a Doctor of Medical Sciences.
Since 1980 Giorgi Menabde is conducting practical activity in medicine. In 1980-1981 he was working in the Makharadze Pediatric Hospital as a dental surgeon. In 1982-1987 he was working in the Medical Training Institute in the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry as an assistant. In 1987-1992 he was working in the Moscow Stomatological Institute as a senior scientist in the Department of Head and Neck Microsurgery, and in 1992-1993 simultaneously was a medical resident of the Department of Microsurgery in the Surgery Institute under the name of Vishnevsky. In 1993-2002 Giorgi Menabde is working on the position of the Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry of the Medical Training Institute, since 2002 – till 2004 – Head of the Department of Surgical and Prosthetic Dentistry of the Georgian State Medical Academy. In 2004 Giorgi Menabde was elected as a Rector of the Georgian State Medical Academy, and in 2006 as a Rector of the Tbilisi State Medical University. Since 2009 – till now Giorgi Menabde is a Director of the Medical Scientific-Researching Institute of the Ilia State University. Simultaneously, Giorgi Menabde becomes a clinical manager of the Dental Clinic “Dentex-95”.
In addition to it, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the University Clinic under the name of S. Khechinshvili and Head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery.
In 2004 -2014 Giorgi Menabde was acting as the President of the Georgian Dental Association, and in 2015 he was awarded with a title of an honorable President of the same Association.
Giorgi Menabde was awarded with an order of honesty. In different periods of time Giorgi Menabde had passed many training courses (internship) abroad:
- Pre-hospital E.M.S. Course, Magen David Adomi, Israel, September 2003.
- Surgical procedures of Implantology. Florida Academy of Dental Implantation, USA, October, 2003.
Professional activities:
Giorgi Menabde took a part in many scientific activities and conferences in Georgia as well as abroad.
He has published up to 100 scientific works in Georgian and foreign magazines.
In different years Giorgi Menabde was a head of 13 scientific works, an official opponent of 12 theses and an expert of 8 theses.
